Glynn Williams

Glynn Williams is a British sculptor who has worked in the figurative tradition since the late 1970s. Born in 1939 in Shrewsbury, England, Williams attended the Wolverhampton College of Art from 1955 to 1960. From 1961 until 1963, after winning the British Prix de Rome scholarship, Williams then attended the British School in Rome. Williams subsequently took up teaching positions at the Wimbledon School of Art and the Royal College of Art. Although his early work reflected a dematerialised, abstract style, by the mid-1970s, he began working with a figurative approach. He has exhibited throughout the UK, with commissions including the Leeds City Council sculpture for the Seacroft Civic Centre, as well as the garden fountain at the British School at Rome.
